The MotorStorm outfit, having done dust-bowls and jungles, has packed bags and shipped out. Their destination: a coastal city that's in throes of a natural catastrophe and what better place to kick-start another MotorStorm festival? Set over a three day period, MotorStorm Apocalypse's backdrop is rapidly disintegrating -- You are there when it happens, and this is survival racing! Throughout the game the city will be ripped to pieces, in real-time, as you race. Routes will be affected, as will our emergent gameplay. Buggies using collapsing walls as half-pipes. Big Rigs on the rooftops of skyscrapers as they collapse. Superbikes gunning into the basements of enormous rifts. Mortal Kombat 2011
The gameplay in Mortal Kombat will be different for those of you accustomed to the speed and fluidity of games like Super Street Fighter IV. I appreciate those types of fighters as much as the next guy/gal, but the savage, deliberately paced fighting in Mortal Kombat feels great to me. Landing a combo and executing special moves is more visceral here then in other fighting games. This is, in part, thanks to the glorious sound design, because effects like Kitana's fans and Jade's staff sound incredible. So with exciting combat, bloody Fatalities, and tons of things to unlock, Mortal Kombat sounds awesome, right? It is, especially when playing with friends locally or online. Bodycount
The destruction in Bodycount satisfies. To fully enjoy it, you'll need to acclimate to a stiff, unusual aiming system. When looking down the sights, your operative locks in place and dynamic, side-to-side leaning replaces character movement. Squeezing the iron sights trigger halfway will give you fine aiming and movement together, but controlled trigger pressure like that doesn't make for an easy firefight. I thought I'd hate the aiming in Bodycount when I first snagged the controller, but by the end of the campaign I adapted completely. I shouldn't have to adapt to stiff aiming, but at least I could. I didn't adapt, however, to the grenade mechanics, which are unreliable at best. The Witness
